A 2500 yr-old exercise sequence for longevity

I am an absolute believer in using movement as a tool to facilitate the body’s ability to heal itself.

The story goes that over 2500 years ago, Tibetan monks developed this exercise sequence for it’s physical, mental and spiritual benefits, and to restore vitality and strength. The first documentation of this sequence shows up from 1939 by Peter Kelder and in 1985, the “Rites” were first introduced to Western Culture in his publication “Eye of Revelation”. In this, Kelder describes the program as “youth-ing” and “the ancient secret of the fountain of youth”. He outlines that you start with one of each exercise and work your way up to performing the five exercises upto 21 times daily.

The goal of this practice is to open up with energy channels in the body and connect us back to our pure life-force energy, also known as Chi or Prana. The design of the sequence works to speed up the function of the chakras (activation of the endocrine system), and clear away negative energy. It also builds core strength and improves the conditioning of the pelvic floor.

The best part is that you will notice the benefits in a few days! Some of which are:

  • increased energy, strength and vigor

  • balancing emotional and mental states

  • improved spinal and joint function (less pain)

  • better sleep

  • accelerated weight-loss
